THE BRIEF
The leafy suburb of Bramhall in Stockport, Greater Manchester has recently welcomed Duttons to the high street. The site formerly known as “The Victorian” had become tired and required a transformation to breathe new life into this typical 1960s building. It was essential to retain a drink focussed offering for the local clientele, whilst providing an all-day café bar experience with bistro inspired food to attract new guests. The interior needed to include signature design elements and implement the JW Lees ethos of providing a comfortable, people focussed space.
THE DESIGN
This is the second Duttons site Fusion by Design have been involved with. The design follows the ethos of the completed ‘Duttons’ in Chester with the aesthetic reminiscent of a continental café bar bistro and includes a sumptuous combination of high-quality materials, finishes and a rich assortment of colour.
The existing interior footprint, well suited to the Duttons format, offered a great opportunity to create small cosy seating areas mixed with larger open spaces. A mosaic style floor tile was installed to create a backdrop to the bar seating area, enveloping the main bar servery space adding a key focal point within the interior. This space is flanked by softer dining areas with floral inspired fabrics, emerald green leathers, warm timbers and luxurious wallpapers. Signature features of the interior include tiled walls, reeded glass screens, bistro inspired seating booths with curtains, timber wall panelling and an assortment of brushed brass, black and green decorative light fittings. All elements of the design have been combined to create a well-considered and beautiful bistro bar environment that is welcoming throughout the daytime to enjoy a morning coffee, leisurely lunch, or afternoon tea. With the ability to fully control and dim the lighting throughout the interior areas in the evening, the ambience created gives the venue a much more intimate vibe to enjoy a drink with friends around the bar, or a meal tucked away in one of the cosy seating booths.
